Last season, the Morgan varsity baseball team had one of its most successful seasons in recent history, going three games deep into the state playoffs and knocking off several 4A and 5A schools in non-region play.
Tyson Lindley, a junior at Morgan High School, recently won the Hinds Quick Stop March Madness Challenge by correctly picking Louisville to win the NCAA basketball championship and by selecting many of the early-round and final-four winners.
This is the stuff kids dream of. Last inning, tie game, home team up, winning run on base, and you’re the batter. Last week, in the biggest baseball game of the year, Dallin Dickson’s dream came true.
Morgan native Billy Peterson is an experienced runner, having competed in over 50 marathons including three previous runs in Boston. During the race last week, Peterson did something unique in his running career: he took his cell phone and seemingly saved his wife and young daughter from tragedy.
Our Monday Morning League is now over for the season and we had our banquet Monday night at Parkside Lanes with Denise’s from Coalville catering. Our theme for the dinner was a Birthday theme and it was in honor of Ethel McQueen, who this summer, will turn 90 years old! Happy Birthday and thank you to all of our great officers and bowlers for a wonderful year!

Thursday, March 14, the Morgan Wrestling Club hosted an event that brought in about 160 young wrestlers and hundreds of fans from as far away as Evanston and Bridger Valley.

The Morgan Lions Club annual basketball tournament was held last weekend. A fun time was enjoyed by all in this classic tournament that has been held for so many years.
The synergy of this year’s Morgan High School boys basketball team was undeniable. With one common goal in mind, they were impossible to stop. They are the well deserved 2013 3A State Champions.
The annual Morgan Lions basketball tournament will be held Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, in the Morgan Middle School gymnasium. The games will start at 4:30 p.m.

Cameron Skinner, Morgan High School varsity basketball player, has been selected to represent his school on the UHSAA Academic All-State Basketball Team.
Our very own Morgan Stars are a part of the Special Olympics program. This year, teams from Morgan were able to participate in a heart-warming event that displayed their impressive talents on the volleyball court.
Chad Lewis has traveled the world promoting the sport he loves. On Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, he stopped in Morgan to sign photos and discuss football with fans. He brought a stack of photos he happily signed for a steady stream of visitors to the Browning Outlet store.

Morgan High wrestlers hosted North Summit at Morgan High on Thursday, Dec. 6. Morgan did well beating North Summit in front of their home crowd. They wrestled again on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, at Roy duals. The varsity team placed 12th beating out Brighton by one point.

Natasha Lyn Andersen was named to the Utah High School Activities Association 2012 academic all-state girls’ soccer team. She was honored at the 3A state soccer championship game at the Rio Tinto stadium on Oct. 20. These are such intelligent girls, the cumulative grade point average of the selected team members is a 4.0.
We have had an enjoyable and exciting fall season! On Saturday, Sept. 15, basketball regionals were held at the Clearfield Aquatic and Fitness Center. We had eight athletes compete in basketball skills and they all did a great job. Swimming regionals were held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Utah State University.
There has been quite a storm of interest in the mountain biking and BMX industry in Morgan as of late. There is a new mountain biking team featuring students from Morgan High and local resident, Jason Johnson, has proposed a new bike track in the area. This may be a great idea for kids like Brewer Snedden.
On Saturday, Oct. 20, members of the Morgan Mountain Bike Race Team participated in the first-ever Utah High School Cycling League state championships. Seven team members and their coaches traveled to Soldier Hollow in Heber Valley to compete against 24 other Division 2 high school teams in what was the perfect ending to an incredible first year of high school mountain bike racing in Utah.

Mountain biking is a sport full of competition, smiling kids and self endurance. Plenty of all three were found at the second race in the Utah High School Cycling League race series last Saturday. Teams from high schools across the state came to compete and Morgan’s team again showed up ready to prove their toughness, skill and determination.
A Morgan High School athlete was honored at the 34th annual Dinner of Champions presented Sept. 12 by the McCarthey Family at La Caille Restaurant in Sandy.
