Morgan welcomed Grantsville to town last Thursday in their first home dual of the season. The Trojans won 11 of the 13 matches and easily defeated the Cowboys 56-12. Individual winners were: Easton Pentz, Rylan Rowser, Kade Carrigan, Shawn Francis, Cormick Breshears, Nate Losee, Randon Prochnow, Brady Libby, Preston Barnett, and Jackson Lake. Morgan also won 3 out of 4 JV matches. Those JV winners were: Christian Winn, Carter Richins, and Riley Hendershot.
The Lady Trojans basketball team played a Region 11 game at Juan Diego on Tuesday Jan. 18th. Last year, on their last trip to Draper to play the Soaring Eagles, the Morgan squad saw their 19 game winning streak come to a screeching halt, as Juan Diego won 54-51. This year would be different, as the Trojans pretty much had it their way, and won by a score of 84-28.
Last Thursday January 6, the Morgan High Wrestling team traveled to Ogden to take on the Ben Lomond Scots of Ben Lomond. Morgan dominated the dual winning 58-12.
The Morgan girls Basketball team played the girls from Grantsville high on Tuesday Jan 11th. in Trojan gym. In a totally dominating performance from start to finish, the Lady Trojans destroyed the visitors by a score of 83-15.
I predict the Morgan Trojans boys basketball team will beat the Judge Memorial Catholic High Bulldogs on Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Judge Memorial gym.
I think the score will be Morgan 58, Judge Memorial 48. I predict the halftime score will be Morgan 32, Judge Memorial 23.

I’ve had the opportunity to interview Morgan High School Volleyball Coach, Liz Wiscombe many times before, so as I sat down on Wednesday to interview her about the volleyball team’s recent win of the 3A state championship, it seemed like old times.
The Morgan Lady Trojans played their second game of the 2A-3A preview on Saturday, December 18 against the Delta Rabbits. The Ladies would play without senior point guard and three year starter Becca Rees, who suffered a knee injury in the previous game against Richfield.
Last Thursday, December 16, the Morgan High wrestlers traveled to Draper to take on Juan Diego High School in wrestling. Morgan easily defeated the Soaring Eagles in a lopsided win.
The number 1 ranked Morgan Lady Trojans played the returning State 3A champions from Richfield High School on Friday, December 17 at the Sevier Center during the 2A-3A preseason preview, and hammered the home team by a score of 50-27.
The Morgan girls basketball team invaded “The Nest”, as the newly built gymnasium at the brand new Wasatch High school is called. The Trojans made themselves right at home, stinging the Lady Wasps in a non-region game on Tuesday December 21 by a score of 52-27.

In its third decade of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN RISE, today announced Ashley Garfield of Morgan High School as its 2010-11 Gatorade Utah Volleyball Player of the Year.
The Morgan Wrestlers traveled to Coalville last Wednesday, December. 8, to face North Summit and Carbon in a tri-meet dual. Morgan easily defeated both teams.
The Morgan girls basketball team played home games on back to back nights last week, playing 4A Box Elder on Thursday and 4A Uintah on Friday. The Lady Trojans were in complete control from start to finish in both games, as they beat Box Elder 77-36 and Uintah 87-26.

How do you spell DOMINATION? During the Harry Burchell Classic basketball tournament last week, it was spelled “Morgan High Lady Trojans Basketball,” as the girls played and beat 5A Fremont High 60-44, and then tourney host 4A Bonneville High 63-21 for the tourney championship. This is the second year in a row that the Trojans have won this tournament.
The Morgan girls basketball squad traveled to Orem Tuesday Dec. 7th to take on 4A power Mtn. View high school. The Lady Bruins are traditionally a very tough team to beat and are always in the running for a state championship. It would prove to be a great battle between two great teams.
The Morgan girls basketball squad opened their season on Tuesday Nov. 30 with a home game, hosting the Mtn Crest Lady Mustangs, a 4A squad out of Hyrum. Last season, the Lady Trojans went to Hyrum and snuck out of town with a big victory. Mtn. Crest would return the favor this year, beating our home town girls by a score of 57-50.

Josh Mines, Senior, had a great game against Hurricane last week. Josh had one of 3 interceptions of that game. Josh ran his interception to a 60 yard touchdown. He also had 5 tackles.
Morgan High School athlete Ashley Garfield is one of only nineteen students in the State of Utah as a finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award Program.
Oklahoma City, Okla., October 26, 2010 – Local roper Paul Freed of Morgan, Utah, was a big winner Tuesday, October 26, at the Cinch USTRC National Finals of Team Roping being held in Oklahoma City through October 31.
Colby Skinner, Junior, had an awesome game against Judge last week. He completed 4 out of 5 passing attempts, one of which led to a touchdown. He also has been a consistant player as quaterback for this years Varsity Football team.
Brittany Visage is a Senior for the number one ranked girls Varsity Volleyball team. Last week during the Ben Lomand and Skyline games she had a great games hitting and blocking. Then against Rickh she had 5 kills and 3 block assists. She is a stable part of the teams chemistry and is very consistant with her play.
The Morgan High Trojans were such underdogs against Judge Memorial, that Judge were not ready for the Trojans great teamwork on both sides of the ball.
The first score of the game came at the 3:43 mark with Judge kicker Pat Giggs kicking a 37 yard field goal.
Lantzen Toomer, Sophomore, had 2 fantastic tackles against Box Elder high last week. One of those tackles caused the fumble that co-athlete of the week, Robbie Nelson recovered. The fumble came when the momentum of the game was starting to turn away from Morgan.
Robbie Nelson, Senior, had an outstanding game against Box Elder. Robbie rushed for an average of 27 yards per carry, had a 20 yard reception leading to a TD, a fumble recovery from co-athlete of the week, Lantzen Toomer’s tackle, 4 defensive tackles of his own, and last but not least; on a kick-off he kicked the ball through the uprights!
Ashlee Gallen, Junior, had a fantastic game against Bear River in Varsity Volleyball last week. Ashlee had 32 set assists, 15 service points, and 6 aces. Morgan’s volleyball team is ranked number 1 in the state with play-offs coming October 28 & 29th.
Chelsey Stegelmeier, Senior, had a great game even though the girls soccer team was met with a loss. As Morgan met Juan Deigo in the first round of the play-off’s, Chelsey was the ONLY thing between them and all the extreme shots taken against her. She stopped all but 5 of these shots.
Syracuse – Visit Antelope Island State Park and witness a western roundup from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, October 29 and if necessary, Saturday, October 30. (In previous years, most bison are moved the first day.) This annual event is an opportunity to view one of the nation’s largest and oldest public herds as horseback riders move the bison from the southern tip of the island, to the handling facility located at the park’s northern end.

Cameron Streadbeck had a killer defensive game against Ben Lomond. Cameron had 10 tackles and 2 sacks that helped insure the Trojans victory over the Scots.
Becca Rees, Senior, had a great game for Varsity girls soccer. Becca had a goal and had 2 assists to AJ Bateman for goals at last weeks game against Ben Lomond.
