In January 1862 An act of the Utah Territorial Legislative Assembly established/defined the boundary of Morgan County.  Morgan County was blessed with an abundance of natural resources.  The acreage also became an essential piece of real estate for services making their route to the west coast.   These included the telegraph, railroad and future utilities that would eventually traverse Weber Canyon.

A few weeks ago FamilySearch released the following announcement:

FamilySearch International announced today a change in its chief executive officer. Effective January 2, 2012, Dennis C. Brimhall will succeed Jay L. Verkler as CEO of FamilySearch. Mr. Verkler will continue in a consulting capacity for a few months to ensure a smooth transition.

Amy Petersen Jensen graduated from Morgan High School in 1986 along with 107 other students of that class.  Throughout her four years of attending MHS, Jensen had many successes and was acknowledged on several occasions for her academic achievements.

Rick London and Lynne Rich were classmates in Morgan schools, they dated in high school and both graduated with the class of 1961. Rick prepared to be a missionary and Lynne went off to college at Utah State University. He returned from serving his mission in March 1965. She graduated from Utah State University, with a bachelor’s degree in Education, in June 1965. They were married in June 1966. Jokingly, Rick added “she supported me while I went to school.”

The Morgan County Board of Education approved the purchase of 8.65 acres of property for the intent of constructing a new transportation facility on the site.

A Community Christmas Celebration, which is being sponsored by the Morgan Lions Club, will be held Saturday, December 20.  A giant Christmas tree will be erected on the Union Pacific lawn through the kindness of the Union Pacific, and lighted for the entire Christmas holidays.

Blaine Breshears is a long time Morgan resident.  His family moved from West Valley to Morgan in 1979.  Breshears attended school in Morgan and graduated from Morgan High in 1987.

Thanks to all of you who made our Ice Cream Social with Bob Peterson such a success.  What a wonderful evening in the Riverside Park!  Everyone appreciates Bob's outstanding voice and his talent for making us all laugh and enjoy a great evening of entertainment.  Our biggest" thanks"  to he and Rozann for giving their time and talents to all the seniors who attended.
