The beautiful cemetery that stands on the hill behind the LDS Ward on the old Highway Rd. in Mountain Green was the original pioneer burying grounds for the pioneer community. It was laid out in 1860 on land that was owned by David Bowman Bybee. He sold .45 acre to the settlement of Mountain Green to provide a place of burial for early settlers.

Earl and Carole have lived in Mountain Green for 43 years. They moved here when Earl received a job offer from Weber State University and have been here ever since.

Earl was born in SE Nebraska on a farm. Literally. They didn’t have a telephone, so his Dad had to hitch up a team of horses to make contact with anyone.

He moved to Mountain Green when his mother Shirley married Wayne Wilkinson. He attended Morgan schools and served an LDS mission in Uruguay.

Communities and other law enforcers across the state mourn the loss of one of the police officers that died in a shooting that happened in Ogden earlier last week. The officer, Jared Francom (who was shot and killed in the tragic 6 officer shooting in Ogden) parents were originally from Morgan.

Mike and Dixie both grew up near Twin Falls, Idaho. Mike grew up on a farming project near Hazelton (east of Twin Falls), and Dixie grew up on a farm west of Twin Falls. She graduated from Twin Falls High School and attended BYU Provo and BYU Hawaii. Mike graduated from Valley High School and attended Ricks College and CSI. They didn’t meet until they were set up on a blind date by Mike’s sister.
Floyd and Charlotte Widdison have lived in Mountain Green for 40 years. They actually met in Morgan over 45 years ago when Charlotte taught elementary school and had Floyd’s younger brother in her third grade class. She also taught mutual in Morgan and had his 2 younger sisters in her class. Both the sisters and the brother kept telling Floyd what a nice teacher they had.
I have lived in Mountain Green for twenty years, and periodically have written letters to the Editor. This will be another occasion in which I will do this again, because we will have a chance to vote for a particular candidate of our choice. However, that isn't true for the Morgan County citizens today. We had two candidates running for sheriff, but one decided to withdraw from the candidacy.

A citizen commented on the new roads. The citizen appreciates the quality of the new roads, but would like to see lines striped on the roads more quickly.
